As a Joint Commission accredited facility, we offer best practices in health care to maintain special certifications and accreditations. In addition, we use third-party vendors who use systems designed to assist hospitals in improving the quality​​ of inpatient care and promoting medical excellence.​

 Floyd Health System Forbes Best in State Employer Georgia 2019  

 

Floyd Named to Forbes List of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2019

The rankings are based on a survey of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people. Floyd Health System employs over 3,200 people​ and serves a six-county area.

Employees were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to other job seekers. Participants also were asked to evaluate other employers either positively or negatively. In addition, participants were asked 35 questions about work-related topics ​such as working conditions, salary and potential for development.

Floyd Medical Center Receives Gold Quality Award for Heart Failure

The American Heart Association has awarded Floyd the Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award for 2019 to Floyd. The hospital also earned Gold in 2017 and 2018.

The hospital was recognized for meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure patients, including evaluation of the proper use of medications and aggressive risk-reduction therapies. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital re-admissions for heart failure patients.

Floyd Medical Center Receives Gold Plus Quality Award for Stroke Care

For the second consecutive year, Floyd Medical Center has been honored by the American Heart Association for its effort in treating stroke patients​.

The Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award recognizes the hospital's success and commitment in ensuring that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-driven guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

To receive the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, hospitals must achieve 85 percent or higher adherence to all achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month periods and achieve 75 percent or higher compliance with five of eight quality measures.

Floyd also received the Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll designation for the second year in a row. To qualify, hospitals must meet quality measures developed to reduce the time between a patient's arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator (tPA​), the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke.

Patient Safety Award — Top 10% in the Nation in Overall Hospital Care

CareChex, an information service of Quantros Inc., in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019​

For four consecutive years, Floyd Medical Center has been recognized as the top 10% in the nation for patient safety in Overall Hospital Care. CareChex uses a multi-dimensional methodology that includes three components of medical quality – process of care, outcomes of care and patient satisfaction.

In 2019, CareChex recognized Floyd Medical Center for being in the top 10% in the nation for Patient Safety in Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care, Overall Surgical Care and the following treatment areas:

  • gastrointestinal care
  • heart attack treatment 
  • major bowel procedures
  • spinal fusion
  • spinal surgery

For four consecutive years, CareChex has recognized Floyd Medical Center for being in the top 10% in the nation for Medical Excellence in Overall Hospital Care.

In 2019, the hospital was also received the Medical Excellence award for top 10% in the nation for Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care.

Heyman Hos​piceCare Named 2019 Hospice Honors Elite Recipient for Fifth Year

Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd has been named a 2019 Hospice Honors Elite recipient. The award recognizes hospice programs that provide the highest level of quality as measured from patient ​and family members' points of view. This is the fifth consecutive year that Heyman HospiceCare has earned this award.

The Breast Center at Floyd was named a 2017 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey. This award recognizes top-performing health care organizations for patient experience. The Breast Center at Floyd also received this award in 2016.

Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award

Floyd Medical Center has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades​ 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for a fourth consecutive year (2014-2017). The award recognizes superior performance in hospitals that have prevented the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays.

Georgia Safe to Sleep Hospital

Floyd Medical Center has been named a Georgia Safe to Sleep Hospital by the Georgia Department of Public Health, highlighting the hospital's continued commitment to infant safety.

 

Georgia Region One 2017 EMS Service of the Year

Floyd Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was named Georgia Region One 2017 EMS Service of the Year by Northwest Georgia Emergency Medical Services. Northwest Georgia Emergency Medical Services is a collaboration between the Northwest Georgia EMS Advisory Council and the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma, Region 1, and represents 16 counties across northwest Georgia.

Chest Pain Center Accreditation

Floyd Medical Center is an accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) by the American College of Cardiology. Our program offers integrated, evidence-based care, quality initiatives, clinical best-practices and the latest guidelines into caring for our cardiovascular patients.
