Help Shine a Light of Love During Holiday Season

11.01.2019
Purchase a light on the Love Light Tree and support Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd’s mission to provide quality care and support for the patients and families it serves.

The Love Light Tree will be illuminated atop Floyd Medical Center beginning Thanksgiving night, Nov. 28, and will stay lit through early January. Each light on the tree represents a special person in the lives of those touched by Heyman HospiceCare. For a donation of as little as $25, you can name a light in honor or memory of a loved one, friend or caregiver.

“The Love Light Tree gives Heyman HospiceCare the ability to fulfill some additional needs and wishes that are not part of quality medical care we provide,” said Casey Blankenship, Program Director for Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd. “The needs vary but have included food, linens, air conditioning/heating system repairs, trips to fulfill last wishes to see family, and anniversary or birthday celebrations.”

“Our goal is to focus on what brings quality of life and joy to the person. It’s really the small things that seem to mean the most to patients. To be able to have the Love Light Tree donations from our community as a resource to meet those needs is incredibly rewarding. To see the community support one another in such a meaningful way is extraordinarily uplifting.” Blankenship said.
