Athletic Trainers
Our licensed and certified athletic trainers provide quality health care specific to student athletes in high schools and colleges in Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga and Polk Counties. These athletic trainers also provide on-site assistance during sporting events, and offer athletes and coaches the education and training needed to help prevent injuries.
Adairsville High School
Alyson Worthey earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is Sportsmetrics certified. Worthey will work with athletes and coaches to evaluate, treat and prevent injuries. She will also provide coverage for all practices and home games.
Armuchee High School
Bo Bradshaw educates coaches and administrators on environmental considerations in athletics. He also teaches students about nutrition and stress management. Bradshaw holds a master's degree in athletic training and a bachelor's degree in exercise science, from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Cass High School
Jay Mills is the athletic trainer for Cass High School.
Cedartown High School
Ben Truett is the athletic trainer for Cedartown High School. He earned a Master of Athletic Training from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. Truett is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Georgia Athletic Trainers' Association.
Chattooga High School
Andrea Davis is the athletic trainer for Chattooga High School. She earned a Master of Art in leadership from Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. Davis has been an athletic trainer for over 10 years. She is Mental Health First Aid certified. Her areas of specialty include concussions and mental health work with athletes. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Southeastern Athletic Trainers’ Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Coosa High School
Ashley Whelchel earned her bachelor's degree in sports medicine and athletic training from the University of North Georgia. She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and is a member of Georgia Athletic Trainers' Association.
Darlington School
Donnie Brown holds a master's degree from Life University and a bachelor's degree from Berry College. In addition, he earned a certificate as an emergency medical technician-intermediate from North Metro Technical Institute in Acworth. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Erin Kennedy is an athletic trainer at Darlington School. She received a Master of Science in athletic training from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in education, health and physical education, from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Kennedy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. She has over 11 years of experience as an athletic trainer.
Model High School
Josh Byrd serves as the athletic trainer for Model High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Pepperell High School
Hope Horne is a certified athletic trainer (ATC). She graduated from King University in Bristol, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science in athletic training. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Horne’s responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation and management for all high school student athletes.
Rockmart High School
Sean Burrows holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training and sports medicine from Georgia Southern University, where he minored in exercise science. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Rome High School
Juan Chavez is an athletic trainer with Rome High School. Chavez is an alumnus of Rome High School. He earned a Master of Science in athletic training from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Chavez also earned a FIFA Medical Diploma in football medicine.
Chad Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in sports medicine and exercise science from Georgia Southern University. As a Rome High alumnus, he enjoys the opportunity to be able work at his alma mater. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Shorter University
Randy Beason is an athletic trainer with Shorter University. Randy Beason is the head athletic trainer at Shorter University. He received a Master of Arts in general studies with an emphasis in education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama; a Bachelor of Science in athletic training/sports medicine from Livingston University/University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama; and an associate degree in business administration from Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, Alabama. He is a nationally registered emergency medical technician (EMT). Beason is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and Southeastern Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Jordan Byrd is an athletic trainer with Shorter University. Jordan Byrd is an athletic trainer with Shorter University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.
Chris Fayne is an athletic trainer with Shorter University. He holds a Master of Science in athletic training from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in sports administration and exercise science from Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, Tennessee. Fayne is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Anna Guin is an athletic trainer with Shorter University. Her primary sport coverage is women's soccer and softball. She earned a Master of Business Administration from Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.
Josh Tucker has been an athletic trainer at Shorter University for over 10 years. He works with the men's soccer, basketball and baseball sports teams. Tucker earned a bachelor's degree in sports performance and athletic training from Berry College. He also has served as an athletic trainer with Armuchee High School and for Olympic gymnasts. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Trion High School
Laurie Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Unity Christian
Andrea Mendence is head athletic trainer. She earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. She also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Berry College from 2008-2010 while working on her master's degree in education. Mendence is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Community Athletic Trainer
Amanda Moore is a certified athletic trainer in the community. She received a Master of Science in injury prevention, wellness and sport psychology from California University of Pennsylvania in California, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts in athletic training from Tusculum College in Tusculum, Tennessee. She has over five years of experience as an ATC and is a performance enhancement specialist.
