Profile

Dr. Don Diego is the Program Director and DIO of the Floyd Family Medicine Residency program.

He is a Fellow in the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).

"[Our purpose is] to provide the full breadth of primary care to all age groups of patients and especially to those with SDOH (social determinants of heath) using the principles of COPC (community-oriented primary care). I was recruited by Floyd to reorganize and expand the Family Medicine Residency in 2010. I accepted this position because I could see that Floyd was sincere in improving the program and committed to serving the underserved SDOH patients of Rome.

We were one of the first Family Medicine Residencies in Georgia to obtain Level 3 PCMH (patient-centered medical home) approval,  providing coordinated patient care for our patients."
