What to Expect

Whether your journey begins with a Primary Care visit, a Floyd ambulance, a trip to the emergency room or a scheduled test, you can rest assured that you will receive excellent care from a compassionate staff that is focused on helping you to heal, keeping you safe and keeping your information private.

Floyd Primary Care offices are conveniently located in communities where you live, work and play. Our network of providers are certified Patient Centered Medical Homes, meaning we include you and work closely with you as a member of your personal health care team. You'll receive expert care from friendly faces who customize your care plans to your needs.

Floyd Emergency Medical Services, with stations located throughout Floyd County and Polk County, will respond to your emergency call quickly and professionally. Our ambulances are equipped with interventions to begin treating your heart immediately. And, we'll continue that treatment as we drive you quickly and safely to the Floyd Emergency Care Center, which is the front door to our Accredited Chest Pain Center and Certified Heart Failure program.

Chest Pain Emergency Care

The Floyd Emergency Care Center is very much the front door to Floyd Medical Center when you have a chest pain emergency. Our staff will quickly move you into our established chest pain protocols that are successful at getting patients into our cardiac cath lab quickly, efficiently and appropriately, because time is so vital to those experiencing a heart attack. Floyd exceeds national standards for how quickly we can restore blood flow after a patient comes into our emergency room. Our door-to-balloon time for angioplasty is faster than the standard required by the American College of Cardiology.

Heart Testing

You'll encounter our Cardiology services program when your provider or specialist recommends diagnostic tests such as echocardiography, stress tests and cardiac catheterization. When you arrive at Floyd, our Registration staff will collect your information and give you a personal pager to privately notify you when it is time for your test or procedure. From there, you'll enter one of our high tech cardiology labs where heart experts will test your heart to make sure your provider has as much information as possible. Your information will be securely shared with your provider through our electronic medical records system. And, if you'd like to see the record of your visit, you can do that too, through our online MyFloyd patient portal.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Patients diagnosed with heart disease or who have been treated for heart attack may be referred to cardiac rehabilitation. Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Polk Medical Center is fully equipped to help you build your strength and confidence as you heal and recover. Our physical therapists will guide you through a series of personalized workouts while you and your heart are carefully monitored.

Heart Education

In addition, our staff can provide education for your school or community group, heart-related screenings at health fairs and instruction on early heart attack care and hands-only CPR.
