In-person Support Group
Moderated by skilled professionals, support group meetings offer dietary and exercise tips, guest speakers, and peer support and encouragement. Bring a friend or family member who might be interested in learning more about bariatric surgery. Support group meetings are held every other month on the first Monday (with exceptions for holidays) from 6 - 7 p.m. at Floyd Corporate Support Center. Registration is not required.
During the first year after bariatric surgery, you will make frequent follow-up visits to make sure you're losing adequate weight in a healthy manner. You will see your surgeon and dietitian after surgery at two weeks, four weeks, three months, six months, one year and then annually thereafter. At these visits, nutrition plans and coping strategies are discussed, and your post-surgery plan is modified as needed. Blood tests are also routinely done to monitor potential deficiencies.
