Sports Medicine
At Atrium Health Floyd, a comprehensive team of sports medicine specialists strives to keep players healthy and injury free -- both on and off the field.
Our licensed and certified athletic trainers, orthopedic specialized physical therapists, certified sports specialists and certified hand therapists provide quality health care specific to athletes.
We are equipped to help athletes recover from injuries that can happen during physical activity, including joint injuries, tears and concussions.
To help prevent injuries, we provide athletes and coaches with education and training tailored to specific needs.
Sports Performance Training
We offer performance training clinics during the year that are specific to sports movement and conditions, including an ACL Risk Assessment and Injury Prevention Program. We also use state-of-the-art Video Laser Analysis (VLA) to study movements in slow motion. Using this technology, we can analyze the motion of joints to prevent injuries and optimize performance, whether it's running, throwing or jumping.
Athletic Trainers
Donnie Brown holds a master's degree from Life University and a bachelor's degree from Berry College. In addition, he earned a certificate as an emergency medical technician-intermediate from North Metro Technical Institute in Acworth. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Erin Kennedy is an athletic trainer at Darlington School. She received a Master of Science in athletic training from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in education, health and physical education, from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Kennedy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. She has over 11 years of experience as an athletic trainer.
