Substance Abuse

Affecting adults of all ages, substance abuse is a recognized medical brain disorder. Substance abuse refers to the abuse of illegal or legal substances, such as drugs or alcohol. Individuals who are addicted to any substance can't simply stop, and treatment for their addiction can be more complex because of other health issues. 

Addiction issues with patients are sometimes more difficult to treat because of necessary medications and more isolation due to lack of activities or relationships.
