An MRI (magnetic resonance image) is a scan that gives a radiologist a detailed view of organs and tissue to help diagnose medical issues.
Floyd Medical Center's imaging services department is equipped with two new Siemens scanners, including an open-concept, high-field machine that provides much clearer images while eliminating the enclosed feeling produced from closed MRI machines. With this equipment, we are able to get high quality scans in less than 30 minutes, faster than any other hospital in the northern Georgia area. This machine is appropriate for bariatric patients and is equipped with a dedicated breast imaging table that provides the ability to focus scans on breast tissue.
