Floyd Donates Portable First-Aid Emergency Kits to County Schools

06.05.2018

Floyd Medical Center has donated 38 portable first-aid emergency kits to Floyd County Schools.

Each of the 19 schools in the county will receive two kits donated by the Emergency Preparedness department of Floyd Medical Center. The kits include splints, bandages, hot and cold packs, antibiotic ointment, bandages and a special blanket to keep someone warm in an emergency.

“We appreciate Floyd Medical Center for being a partner and for all of its contributions – from these emergency kits and AEDs to athletic trainers and Stop the Bleed Training," said John Jackson, Floyd County Schools Superintendent. “Receiving these kits is just one more way that Floyd is helping keep our kids safe and healthy."

Floyd Corporate Health School Nurse Manager Jamie Youngblood had received several requests for first-aid kits from school nurses. Those requests, in turn, made it to Kenna Baker, Floyd Medical Center Safety Officer and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

“We were glad to be able to support our local school systems and provide them with these first-aid kits," said Baker.

Rome City Schools received emergency first-aid kits from Floyd Medical Center in May.
