Dr. Michael Land Now Treating Patients in Adairsville

09.20.2022

Family Physician Grew Up on a Farm in Jasper

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga., Sept. 20, 2022 Michael Land, M.D., is now seeing patients at Atrium Health Floyd Primary Care Family Medicine in Adairsville.

Land grew up on a farm in Jasper, which is only about an hour's drive from Adairsville.

“I really appreciate growing up in that smaller community because you get a sense that everyone knows each other and everyone has their best interest at heart. I am really happy to be in Adairsville. It's close to where I grew up, and it's also a small community."

He said as a doctor his philosophy is to spend more time listening rather than talking.

Land received his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. He served as the chief resident in the Macon-based Atrium Health Navicent Family Medicine Residency Program. He is a member of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.

He completed medical school in three years with a focus on providing care in rural and underserved areas of Georgia. Land received both a Bachelor of Science in genetics and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Georgia.

He was also a research assistant at the UGA Department of Biological & Agricultural Engineering.

“I think it's important for patients to realize their doctors are real people and that we have lives outside of medicine. I really love music in addition to medicine so I play the saxophone and the piano," Land said. “Every doctor brings their own experiences into the way they practice medicine, even if they are not related to their field of medicine."

Atrium Health Floyd Primary Care Family Medicine Adairsville, 6000 Joe Frank Harris Parkway NW, is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 770-773-9448 to make an appointment.
