Atrium Health Recognized as a “Best Employer" in North Carolina, Georgia

08.26.2022

Among top-100 employers in each state on annual Forbes list

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 25, 2022 – Atrium Health has been recognized on the Forbes list of Best-In-State Employers 2022 for both North Carolina and Georgia. Atrium Health has previously been recognized on the Best-In-State Employers list for North Carolina each year since 2019 and is being recognized for the first time in Georgia.

America's Best-in-State Employers 2022 were identified in an independent survey, based on a vast sample of approximately 70,000 Americans working for companies with more than 500 employees in the USA. Across 25 industry sectors, 1,380 employer brands were ranked among the top employers. Both states were extremely competitive, and each had only 100 companies recognized.

"This recognition is a testament to our thousands of teammates who work tirelessly with determination and dedication to deliver the highest quality care," said Jim Dunn, enterprise executive vice president and chief people and culture officer for Atrium Health. "We are honored to be named among the best-in-state employers in Georgia and North Carolina and know it's our teammates who make Atrium Health so special."

Throughout the pandemic, when thousands of organizations across the country faced significant financial hardships and laid off workers, Atrium Health not only prevented layoffs, but went a step further to ease the burdens that many teammates faced by significantly enhancing childcare benefits, providing food and lodging options and creating a Caregiver Heroes Teammate Emergency Care Fund for teammates with particular financial needs exacerbated by the pandemic.

Atrium Health has also encouraged and supported its network of system resource groups (SRGs) to meet the needs of the health system's diverse workforce and enrich the inclusion and cultural competency of teammates. Its diversity infrastructure groups, which include SRGs and diversity councils, promote diversity and inclusion in their respective regions, as well as support diversity in recruitment, engagement, retention and professional development. Their input has greatly enhanced the work lives of teammates and improved care for patients.

Atrium Health's mission – to improve health, elevate hope, and advance healing for all – unites its employees around a higher purpose, helping inspire the newest members of the organization in their daily work. The “for all" words in the mission apply to Atrium Health's patient care and its approach to employee work environments, ensuring that all teammates can belong and thrive as their whole, authentic selves.

Launched in 2021, Atrium Health's Culture Commitments embody teammates' commitment to work as one team to make great things happen and cultivate a space where people – teammates, patients and community members alike – come first. Further, initiatives such as open-to-all Courageous Conversations, executive training in racial justice topics and discussion sessions for managers help Atrium Health teammates consistently embrace the value of differences.

The organization recognizes the importance of its workforce, placing teammate well-being, organizational culture, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion on its enterprise strategic plan.

Recently, Atrium Health was also recently named a Best Place to Work for Veterans by Fortune and a Best Place to Work in U.S. for Women and Diverse Managers by Diversity MBA.
