Volunteers Provide $5,800 for Cherokee Medical Center

08.16.2019
Volunteer Services presented a $5,800 check to Cherokee Medical Center. The money was raised through the public sale of scrubs, jewelry and other items during events that are staffed by volunteers, who contributed 2,500 hours this past fiscal year.

The money will be used for a variety of needs at the hospital.

“Our volunteers support us, and they are just part of the family. We appreciate them very much,” said David Early, Vice President of Support Services and Operations at Floyd. “They also support our brothers and sisters in the community. They greet a lot of people every day who come through our doors.”

Volunteers play an important role in the services provided by Floyd. Currently, there are about 160 active volunteers providing their time throughout the system, said Carolyn Falcitelli, Director of Volunteer Services at Floyd.

At Cherokee, Volunteers provide clerical help by answering phones and assisting with mailings. They also greet and escort patients. If you are interested in becoming a volun-teer, call 706.509.5109.
