This interactive childbirth class is designed for the mother and her partner. It will help moms and their partners made informed choices to ensure a positive birth experience. 

The class covers topics ranging from the labor process and stages of labor to recovery after birth, breastfeeding and newborn care.  Participants will also participate in mock labor scenarios. 

Becoming a Parent includes a tour of the Family Birth Center and is taught by a Lamaze certified instructor.

Classes are held once a week for eight ​consecutive weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. at Childbirth and Lactation Services, 1013 North 5th Ave., Suite 7​. The courses are scheduled with due dates in mind so that parents can complete all the classes before their baby arrives, but not too far in advance so the information remains fresh. Snacks are provided.

​The cost of this class is $80. It is covered by Medicaid ​​and reimbursed by some insurance companies.
