Our primary goal is to provide you and your baby with excellent care.
You will have a nurse specially designated to take care of you and your baby. Our nurses work 12 hours shifts and are here to help you with anything you need. We also have obstetric technicians who work with the nurses and the physician during delivery. This specially-trained team will care for you and your baby after delivery.
- We ask that your visitors do not bring food or drinks into the labor and delivery room.
The smell of the food may make you nauseated. You will most likely only be given ice chips or flavored ice until after delivery. We have a family waiting area in the maternity unit where your family members may eat and relax.
- While you are in labor and delivery, we ask that your family limit their visits with you.
Although this is an exciting time for your family and friends, we want to be able to care for you and the baby without interruptions. Visitors will be limited to no more than two in your room at one time. (This does not include the father. You will have unlimited visiting after the baby is born.)
- Videotaping and pictures are limited during the actual delivery.
Your family may videotape and take pictures up until you begin to push. At this time, we ask that you stop videotaping and taking pictures. Once the baby is delivered and in an open warmer bed, your family may resume videotaping and taking pictures.
- All family members not in the labor and delivery room should wait in the family waiting room.
We cannot allow family members to wait outside your room in the hallway. This poses a safety risk when we are trying to move stretchers and equipment down the hallways.
