Treatment Options

Chemotherapy Clinic
Our clinic provides a variety of chemotherapy depending on the type of cancer being treated.

Computed Tomography Scanning
CT scans are primarily used in the diagnosis of cancer, but also has some treatment applications.

Endoscopy Laboratory
The Endoscopy Lab is used in the diagnosis of a variety of cancers.

Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling, most often in the arm and/or leg and occasionally in other parts of the body. Lymphedema can develop during or following the treatment of some cancers. This therapy helps reduce the swelling (or edema), improve mobility/function and increase patient comfort.

Nutritional Services (Inpatient and Outpatient) Depending on the diagnosis and treatment, cancer patients may require special diets or nutritional counseling both while they are in the hospital and after they are discharged.

Occupational Therapy
Depending on the nature of the cancer and the type of treatment required, occupational therapy may be recommended to help the patient achieve maximum independence following surgery or treatment.

Oncology Medical Services
Floyd Medical Center has a dedicated Oncology Unit for the treatment of cancer patients. Our oncology nursing staff have received specialized training and are certified to care for cancer patients.

Pain Management Team
Pain is an important issue in the treatment of all patients, including oncology patients. The team works to ensure that the patient’s pain is well managed and tolerated.

Physical Therapy
Depending on the nature of the cancer and the type of treatment required, physical therapy may be recommended to help the patient achieve maximum independence following surgery or treatment.

Radioisotopes (diagnostic and therapeutic)
Radioisotopes are used to diagnose, and in some cases, treat certain types of cancer. This type of diagnostic test provides a view of physiological changes caused cancer that may remain undetected by other imaging techniques.

Floyd Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics
Part of The Treatment Clinics at Floyd Medical Center, this clinic offers skin wound and ostomy management for patients with those issues – including cancer patients.

Speech Therapy
Speech therapy is available to patients needing assistance following the treatment of oral cancer or cancers that affect speech, swallowing, eating and other such functions.

Surgery
Physicians use Floyd Medical Center’s inpatient and outpatient, expert-staffed, technologically advanced surgical services when surgery is the recommended treatment for cancer.

Tumor Conferences
These weekly conferences for medical personnel provide an opportunity to discuss specific cases, focusing on how tumors present in patients, diagnostic work-up of suspected cancer patients, treatment and follow-up. In addition to the every Friday general conference Floyd holds a weekly lung specific and breast specific conference as well as a monthly genito urinary (GU) specific conference.
