Healing is a process involving the body, mind and spirit. Floyd's Arts in Medicine program recognizes this connection and brings expressive arts to patients, families, visitors, co-workers and physicians, transforming the medical environment to one of inspiration and healing.
Soft music fills public areas. A baby grand piano invites both impromptu and scheduled performances. Our gallery space celebrates the vision and talent of area artists.
The music volunteers provide group and individual music experiences at patient bedsides, in waiting areas and in our lobby. Art volunteers bring an art cart to patients, providing the opportunity to explore self-expressive creativity as a part of the healing process.
The artists in residence work with patients to encourage them to discover their own creative connection as a part of their prescription for healing.
Our Arts in Medicine activities are an integral part of Floyd's healing environment. This strategic concept enhances the clinical aspects of healing by providing soothing music and visual cues proven to lower blood pressure, decrease stress and affect critical brain chemicals.
