Qualified mental health professionals are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to provide confidential mental health screenings free of charge. Insurance will not be billed.

This screening is an important first step in determining the level of care you or your family member may need. The goal is to determine if further assessment is needed to provide the right treatment in the best place to achieve an optimal outcome.

Call 706-509-3500 for your free, confidential screening.

Inpatient Hospital Treatment

If a mental health screening indicates a person needs immediate medical attention, Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Behavioral Health can provide inpatient hospitalization for stabilization and to begin the recovery process.

Our inpatient hospitalization program is designed to meet the immediate mental health needs of men and women 18 years and older. The average length of stay is five to seven days.

A team of highly qualified health care professionals provides care and treatment. Treatment teams consist of psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, counselors, mental health technicians, medical consultants and others who work with patients on an individualized plan of care that serves as a patient’s roadmap to recovery. These plans of care are based on assessments conducted by the patient’s care team and on the patient’s goals and preferences.

Inpatient hospitalization helps patients build a foundation of support and acquire coping skills to better manage the symptoms of their mental health conditions. Once this foundation of treatment is in place, we work together to develop a plan to continue healing for a range of complex issues, including:

  • Addiction
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
  • Behavior disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Body image and weight issues
  • Crisis intervention
  • Depression
  • Dual diagnosis (behavioral and substance abuse problems)
  • Fear
  • Grief and loss issues
  • Impulse control disorders
  • Major depression
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Partial Hospitalization Program

For people who are unable to cope with everyday life but are not in danger of harming themselves or others, partial hospitalization can be a treatment bridge of services. Providing help and hope and a path to recovery, partial hospitalization is also designed for patients who are moving from inpatient care back into the community.

The partial hospitalization program generally lasts from six to eight weeks but may be adjusted based on patient needs. This program is available for those 18 and older.

Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and may be adjusted to 9 a.m. - Noon after approximately three weeks of treatment, depending on the needs of each patient and in consultation with the treatment team. Transportation is available within a certain radius of the program, and we provide lunch and small snacks.
