Cancer Care Team

Our certified oncology nurses and support staff work closely with patients, families and physicians from diagnosis through treatment in to both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Our oncology case managers work closely with cancer patients to assure that all aspects of after-hospital care are in place.

Two important components of our care team are the Cancer Committee and the Cancer Registry:

  • Cancer Committee: Consisting of physicians, key department leaders and other trained professionals who are part of our comprehensive care team, this committee provides leadership in planning, initiating and evaluating cancer-related activities at Atrium Health Floyd.
  • Cancer Registry: The Cancer Registry monitors all types of cancer cases diagnosed and/or treated at Atrium Health Floyd and is critical to the evaluation of cancer care. The data gathered by our staff allows physicians to analyze patient care, treatment, cancer staging, clinical outcomes and survival rates. Our Cancer Registry staff coordinates with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) through the survey process every three years and maintains all information vital to the program.
