As part of our family-centered maternity care philosophy, Floyd supports breastfeeding for the health benefits it gives the baby and the close bond it creates between mother and child. It is estimated that prior to delivery, 80 to 90 percent of all pregnant women would like to breastfeed.
However, without emotional support, adequate training and education, it is easy to give up. Our Breastfeeding Clinic offers the assistance a new mother needs to make breastfeeding a success.
Although breastfeeding is a natural process, the techniques may not come naturally to every new mom and baby. Our board-certified lactation (breastfeeding) consultants are available before your delivery, while you are in the hospital and afterwards at home to help you become comfortable and enjoy a positive breastfeeding experience.
Instruction on successful breastfeeding strategies
Support for premature infant feeding
Milk supply education
Instruction on breast milk expression and use of breast pump

Expecting mothers can attend our interactive, two-hour breastfeeding class (part of our childbirth classes) where our certified lactation consultant will explain breastfeeding basics and what support is available in the hospital and after returning home.
Our lactation consultants are available to answer questions or discuss concerns about breastfeeding by phone and during
one-on-one appointments or group discussion. To speak with our lactation consultants by phone, call 706.509.6555.
Most commercial insurance companies will pay 100 percent of the cost of an in-person lactation consultation with no deductibles or co-pays. There is generally no coverage limit on the number of visits, so moms can receive guidance as many times as needed.
Our Childbirth, Lactation and Massage Services office will file the necessary paperwork with commercial insurance companies for moms to receive this service.
To make an appointment for a breastfeeding consultation, call 706.509.6548.
We offer breast pumps for rent and purchase. In addition, we sell a full line of lactation products, accessory kit parts and breastfeeding materials. Some commercial insurance companies now provide breast pumps for new mothers at no cost or a minimal charge. To learn more, visit our
