Residency Program

Our residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the American Osteopathic Association Intern/Resident Registration Program and abides by its rules. All applicants must apply to the program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) using the Common Application Form (CAF). We do not accept applications submitted via mail, email, and/or facsimile.

December 31 is the deadline for receipt of all completed applications and required documents for the 2010 Main Match.

All Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • ERAS Common Application Form
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Dean's Letter
    These letters are posted on November 1; interviews will begin to be scheduled prior to receiving the dean’s letters.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
    At least one letter should be from a U.S. Family Medicine physician who has supervised you clinically.
  • USMLE and/or COMLEX Board Scores
    You must post a passing score on both Steps 1 and 2, including the Step 2 clinical skills assessment, prior to the Match.
  • Personal Statement
    Your personal statement should indicate a sincere interest and commitment in the field of Family Medicine as a career.

Criteria for all applicants

  • Eligible to participate in the NRMP.
  • Passing scores on USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 CK, USMLE Step 2 CS, and/or passing sores on COMLEX Level 1, COMLEX Level 2 CE and COMLEX Level 2 PE. Applicants who passed after more than three combined attempts may be given favorable consideration if they matriculated at an affiliated medical school and have successfully completed a clinical rotation at our Residency Program.
  • Must have passed the USMLE Step 2 CS and/or COMLEX Level 2 PE on first attempt.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school is preferred to be within the past two (2) years.

Additional criteria for FMG applications

  • Foreign medical graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate or expect certification by February 1.
  • Minimum six (6) months documented U.S. clinical training. (Must be daily contact with patients and physicians.)
  • Citizenship, permanent residency status, or visa status that will allow you to work in the U.S. without delay and restrictions.
Must have proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
