Our residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the American Osteopathic Association Intern/Resident Registration Program and abides by its rules. All applicants must apply to the program through the Electronic Residency Application Service.
Eligibility Criteria for all applicants:
- Eligible to participate in the NRMP and/or the AOA Intern/Resident Registration Program.
- The program does not screen applicants by scores alone. The USMLE and COMLEX criteria are as follows:
- Passing score on the USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1 to be considered for an interview.
- Passed both components of the USMLE Step 2 or COMLEX Level 2 by the rank order list deadline.
- Passing scores on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK or the COMLEX Level 1 and COMLEX Level 2 CE within three combined attempts. (Applicants who passed after more than three combined attempts may be given favorable consideration if they matriculated at an affiliated medical school and have successfully completed a clinical rotation at our Residency Program.)
- Passed USMLE Step 2 CS or the COMLEX Level 2 PE on first attempt. (Applicants who passed on a second attempt may be given favorable consideration if they matriculated at an affiliated medical school and have successfully completed a clinical rotation at our Residency Program.)
- Graduation from an accredited medical school is preferred to be within the past two years.
- Be eligible to work in the United States: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident. The program does not sponsor visas.
- Must have proficient verbal and written English communication skills. In conversation the applicant must demonstrate a clear command of spoken English, both in clarity of enunciation and pronunciation and in conversational understanding.
- Meet employment eligibility requirements for Floyd.
Additional eligibility criteria for students or graduates from foreign medical schools:
- Must have a valid ECFMG certificate or expect certification no later than the start date of the program.
- Have at least one year of documented clinical training in the United States.
If the above criteria are met, a complete ERAS application is required, including:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Personal Statement
- Medical School Transcript
- Dean’s Letter (interviews will begin to be scheduled prior to the release of these letters.)
- Three Letters of Recommendation from faculty who have directly supervised clinical performance. At least one letter should be from a family medicine physician.
- USMLE or COMLEX licensing exam scores
