Surgical Infection Prevention

When you choose Floyd you are choosing a recognized quality leader. We rank first among Georgia hospitals for the prevention of surgical infections and earned Best Practices recognition from the Georgia Medical Care Foundation.

In addition, our efforts to prevent infections related to surgery earned Floyd a 2006 VHA Georgia Leadership Award for clinical excellence.

At Floyd Medical Center we take surgical infection seriously. By going above and beyond to ensure your safety, we have been acknowledged as a Best Practices hospital in surgical infection prevention by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation.

That kind of acknowledgement gives our patients and their families a peace of mind, knowing that we follow strict federal guidelines to help make surgery at Floyd a safe experience.

Now, Floyd is teaching other hospitals how to match our successes. It’s another way Floyd strives to go well beyond expectations every day.

Our hospital was honored for ranking first among 160 Georgia hospitals for compliance with federal surgical infection prevention guidelines. These guidelines include the percentage of patients who receive prophylactic, preoperative and postoperative antibiotics.
