July 4, 1942 - Floyd Hospital opened as a
70-bed, pavilion-type structure with five wings. |

1946 - A two-story rock wing was constructed, adding 40 beds, delivery rooms, a nursery and a blood bank.

1956 - A $1 million, four-floor wing increased the bed count to 180. The new wing housed new operating rooms, a laboratory, X-ray department and a kitchen. |

1962 - A four-story wing was built to house the pediatric department, acute medical and surgical beds, and an intensive care unit. A psychiatric care area also opened. |
