Giving FAQs

Why does an organization as large as Floyd raise money?

Quality health care is expensive. Charges for medical services cover operating expenses such as utilities, salaries, benefits and supplies. They don't cover the cost of expensive medical technologies or updated facilities that separate a good hospital from a great hospital. Foundations raise money to make that difference. Convenient, nationally recognized health care services would not be available in our region without the support of generous donors who want to invest in the health of our community.

How does Floyd Healthcare Foundation use my gift?

Gifts make the following possible at Floyd:

  • Leading-edge medical equipment for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation
  • Health education and service
programs for youth in our community
  • Support for hospice, diabetes and cancer awareness, education and research
  • Expansion and improvement of Floyd facilities
  • Access to health care for all community citizens, regardless of the ability to pay

May I direct my gift to a specific program or service?

Yes. Donors may designate their gift for an existing giving opportunity. If you do not see the program or service to which you would like to donate, you can request that your gift be used for a specific purpose.
Nonspecific donations will be designated to support current projects.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. Floyd Healthcare Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent as determined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Can I make a gift of appreciated property, such as stock or real estate?

Yes. The Foundation will work with you to accept gifts of appreciated stocks, marketable securities, real estate or other items of value.

Can Floyd Healthcare Foundation be the beneficiary of my will, trust or life insurance policy?

Yes. We have an advisory council of financial planners who are available to assist you, if needed. For additional information, contact the Foundation at 706.509.3290 or by email.
